N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) is a strongly polar aprotic solvent with good solvency for various polymers such as polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride and polyamides. As an important organic chemical raw material and excellent polar solvent, DMF is widely used in the following fields:

– Synthetic Fibers: Solvent for wet spinning of synthetic fibers including polyacrylonitrile fiber (acrylic fiber) and spandex;
– Polyurethane Industry: Primary solvent for the production of polyurethane resins, elastomers and coatings; washing and curing agent in the manufacture of wet-process synthetic leather;
– Pharmaceutical Industry: Used for synthesizing pharmaceutical intermediates such as antibiotics, vitamins and hormones;
– Pesticide Industry: Applied in the production of pesticide intermediates including chlordimeform and imidacloprid;
– Electronics Industry: Used for cleaning liquid crystal panels and semiconductor components, as well as the preparation of lithium battery electrolyte;
– Petrochemical Industry: Serves as a gas absorbent for gas separation and purification, such as the extraction of butadiene from C₄ fractions;
– Coatings and Inks: Functions as a solvent and paint remover for paints and coatings;
It is also employed as a catalyst for chemical reactions and a stationary phase for gas chromatography.
